Is it safe to buy a new pc at the moment or should you wait? At the moment I'm playing on a macbook which is awful so I want a new Gaming PC. I have a budget of 2500 USD. I've so far come up with this but I dont know if its efficent or stable or future proof etc. What do you guys think? It will be primarly for gaming but maybe other things down the line. I really don't understand how a build can be unstable when it isn't even a thing yet; please clarify here. Other than that it looks really good, everything's at a reasonable price, I don't really know what more you want. And when you say that it's not futureproof, I kind of feel like you're just trying to rub your to-be build in people's faces considering you have the best of the best in the parts list.

I was just asking if it was going to be unstable and if it was future proof or not. I didnt state anything.

Well it's plenty future proof, which you should know considering it's the best of the best, and again, you didn't define what you meant by unstable, it cannot be unstable if isnt built yet. If you're asking whether it will run well or not, well see the answer to your previous question, however if you're asking about possible crashes; well how the hell would I know. You haven't overclocked and I can't tell you if you're gonna win the silicon lottery.

2500 dollar is enough to make your computer 5 years proof.

If i were you, i replace 8700k with ryzen 2700x, future proof at least until 2020.

I'll add :

- 4tb hdd SATA drive, for game storage and multimedia, 500gb not enough.

Replace :

- 750 watt PSU, waste, 500 watt should be enough

Delete:

- Water cooler, if you got not experience building pc, i suggest stock or air cooler first.

- Extra fans, build the pc first and then consider the extra fans, there may not be a place to put them.

You are probably right for most people and applications. However, personally I would rather have a fast drive supplemented by a larger HDD. Honestly there is PLENTY of room in his budget for a large SSD and the M.2 drive. *cough* $200 on fans and $100 on OS *cough*

He could probably pick up around 3-4 HDDs with 3 TB each to then raid together for excelent speed. a 1TB mx500 and if then had access to "Store MI" with an AMD cpu he could reek all the benefits of mass storage and speed

Raid 0 together 3   4-6 TB drives and you are set for a veeeery long time. until games get above 200++ GB offcourse. you can only fit 3 3.5inch HDD in the case. and 12-18TB of storage is quite over the top for most people.

this will cost quite a bit. Raid 2 drives together now and add a third later might not be half bad. the more drives you put in Raid 0 the faster they can read and write.

Fair enough on the CPU and storage (though if your only concern is gaming, the 8700k will suite you better in the short term). But the rest, I disagree. 500 should be BARELY enough, and probably wouldn't work out well if overclocking or putting maximum load on every component. You don't want to keep your power supply at max load all the time for many reasons, including power efficiency. An AIO is fine as a new builder if you have the brains to follow a pretty basic step by step guide. Not much more difficult than an air cooler with a backplate. You can obviously check if the case has extra fan spots.

No OC at max load should be enough. Well OC is a different ballgame, he should learn the basic first before dwell in it. Flagship cpu + 1080ti why you need more?

Yes AIO is easy to install, but should watch for leaking and dead motor, not as obvious as a dead heatsink fans.

AIO and *$200 cough* extra fans is not crucial at the moment, can add later.

$300 should get another cpu haha

Absolutely, 500gb won't be enough.

Game installers will cost you 50gb alone.

Honestly its a solid build but there are definitely places where you could save money without effecting performance. For instance the first one I see is that your going for the Strix 1080 ti which is still at almost $900 as opposed to the evga cards which are all down in the $700 range for the same card. Otherwise for gaming the platform is really good. But you could also save some money by going for a different NVMe drive since the Samsung is the most expensive you might even be able to go up in capacity by going to something like a WD black or an intel p drive.

Raid 0 if you're ready to loose 6tb of data at anytime. I won't touch raid 0 if already have ssd.

Raid 0 is evil, stay away, especially for novice.

Please do not raid 0 any mass storage. It is asking for loss of data. I don't know what your motherboard supports but at least raid 5 otherwise there are software solutions that could help you stripe them together. you already have the speed from the ssd the point of hdds is to have reliable slower storage.

it is true that you risk loosing data as if you loose one HDD you loose all the data in the RAID. but as Linus once said: "RAID isnt backup".

its either to have reliable slow storage. or cheaper less reliable slightly faster mass storage.

ive chosen the latter for my system and im risking it for the biscuit.

Is it nessecary to raid together it or will the m.2 drive for windows and hdds for games be enough? I dont know what raid is sooo yea

I could just go for like a 4tb hdd instead with a 500gb m.2 and maybe upgrade them later?

That will be enough storage to last you a while if you ask me. If you need storage beyond that you might be looking in the market of something like a NAS anyways rather than internal storage.

I was also hesitant on the case since it only has a dust filter for the psu and not the front or top but I guess I could just regularly clean it.

Case should be fine. Like you said just clean out the internals with like a compressed air can slightly more often. but cases with a build like this are more about looks than practicality. Most cases will get you what you need and it matters what you want to look at you baddass system in at the end of the day.

Are there any new parts coming soon or should I be safe to build it this weekend?

No new CPU's or GPU's coming out for at least a few months and even if they do the CPU's that have been teased are all hedt not mainstream platform. And GPU release will probably be on par with 1080 ti performance.

Ryzen 2700x is the latest exciting cpu for this year.

No sight on intel releasing a worthy contender, they tried to beat amd's new 32 core, but it failed.

For GPU part no word from amd or nvidia, i think 1080ti would serve you well for another 3 years.
