So is it just me...or are AAA studios at war with indie development ideas.

COD and Battlefield now have battleroyale (PUBG style)

Battlefield 5 now has fortification building like in survival game rust or squad/post scriptum

Fallout 76 is now online survival to battle Rust/DayZ/ escape from tarkov

Battlefield 5 doesnt have health regen like in Squad/post scriptum/Insurgency

Gears of war is gonna have a turn based strategy pc game......

What do you guys think? am i right?

Pretty disappointed with Fallout 76. From the sounds of things, since there's no server selection and is 100% online, there probably won't be any mod support. It just looks like a shell experience of Fallout 4 with multiplayer.

I think the Bethesda live stream killed any hope I had left for them. I was more excited for skyrim mobile than Rust: fallout edition. To add some context to that I absolutely despise mobile games.

And as @Frankenburger said no more mods. So no more ways to make the game visually acceptable as a AAA title when its released. Or fix engine bugs that have been existent since the morrowind days.

Welp... I'm 100% hyped for Fallout 76. It's multiplayer platform seems to follow that of Warframe's, where you CAN play single player, but it's going to be much harder.  We don't know if that means you can play in your own instance though (which I doubt you will be able to tbh).  I love games that branch out like this, though (when done correctly). I don't think you should be expecting this game to follow every core value of the original Fallout series.

This game isn't meant to be played like a typical Bethesda SP game, so I don't think it should be judged as such. Save that for Fallout 5 whenever it comes out. If this game is a scaled down ESO (meaning less players, which Howard confirmed will be limited) with improved building aspects from FO4, I think this has potential to be one of the best multiplayer games out. Only time will tell.  I find it funny that people are upset that there won't be mod support. Again, this is a multiplayer game. ESO is fantastic without mods. It's also not like any other ES game.

ES Blades, ES6, Doom 2, Rage 2, & Starfield also have me very excited. This showcase is the only one that's actually gotten me excited for new games in quite awhile.

regarding the population of fallout 76. Less can mean more. I play Escape From Tarkov....a loot and scoot survival game. in each instance or match there are about 8-10 players, sometimes 12 players. plus you have AI Scavengers you need to watchout for.Escape from tarkov is one of the most intensely fun games i've played.

Im curious though. the whole point of survival is the tension of losing your gear. if you die and don't lose your gear theres no point in wiping out other players or groups.

I wonder what the incentive will be to Co-op with strangers online or kill players and destroy there camps.

Yep, I agree. I'll likely be playing with a group of friends that enjoys these types of games personally. I think the silos will play into the fear of losing gear though and keeping things interesting. We'll have to wait for more deets though for now :)

Pretty sure the only thing anyone really cares about from the entire e3 is new Kingdom Hearts and TESVI

Nah, what about starfield and cyberpunk 2077? Way more excited for those.

TES will take forever to launch, starfield will come first and I think is exciting to have a truly new game.

Cyberpunk 2077... Well im really hyped for this game, even if it is 50% the quality of tw3 it will already be amazing.

Also never cared and never will care about kingdom hearts :P

Ultra is stupid. ALWAYS.

Was stealing deathmatch from Doom 1993 copying indie devs?

EA is having trouble getting players to stick to their games at the moment.

Fallout Online was a concept since like 2008. Elder Scrolls Online existed since shortly after Skyrim.

Neither does Doom 2016?

I think that including the most content in the game as you can is almost necessary. Rainbow six came out in 2015 & I think it's still growing in popularity. Including as many game modes & services to make your game as a service is the most profitable way nowadays. Not everyone is going to spend 60 dollars every year on a game, let alone your game. Especially if the competition is free or much less in price.

I see what you're trying to say, but I think that it's just the natural evolution of the majority gamers' interests. Back around 2009~ everyone was obsessed with arcade FPS Call of Duty Action. Then people wanted large open worlds like Horizon Zero dawn & Far Cry. Now people want those large worlds to have lots of players in them. Many companies had competed with similar games since forever. I couldn't tell you how many 2D sidescrollers exist on the 1983 NES. Once doom came out, there were countless FPS games. Once Quake came out, there were countless fast paced polygon landscapes. In the early 2000s there were countless 3D collector platformers like Banjo kazooi, Jack & Daxter, Conker and so on. There are AAA companies not following the bandwagon. To head back to Ubisoft, they're doing their own thing. They're doing their Rainbow Six game, & making a sequel to the Division RPG game. Kojima is making that dead standing game. I think companies are working on things that they've been working on & wanted to do. They're not going super out of their way.

It'd be stupid to clone something like Rust for example. For 1, Rust is dying in popularity. It has a HUGE learning curve, accelerating as time goes on with veteran players that know all the exploits with thousands of hours. To simply tac on a Battle Royale mode (Which that writer/director should totally sue everyone & own revenue for trademark infringement) is not SUPER hard. Just spawn everyone in this one place without physics enabled, set parent to the airplane, create a count down, and a collider that detects when people are in the zone. Free for all limited lives has existed since AT LEAST 2001. I'm sure I've played "Battle Royal" in classic Halo: Combat Evolved years ago.
