The parts list: https://pcpartpicker.com/list/s7LqHh

What do you think?

  • Chose the CPU because:
    1. 6 cores will not be mainstream for a while
    2. Higher clock speeds are more important than core count
    3. Overall great price/performance
  • Chose CPU cooler because:
    1. Intel stock cooler is potato quality
    2. $20 is all the budget I have for cooling
    3. Got a lot of recommendations for the Cryorig M9i
  • Chose motherboard because:
    1. It has great features at an expensive price:
      1. 4 DIMM slots
      2. USB Type-C
      3. 2*M.2 slots
      4. Support for upto three monitors from integrated graphics
    2. B360 is good enough, because I don't think I will ever need RAID or SLI
  • Chose RAM because:
    1. While 8GB would have been enough, 16GB dual channel seems good for the future
    2. Chose higher speed RAM although Intel does not feed on it because it's currently 5 dollars more expensive
  • Chose SSD because:
    1. NVME is currently overkill, and normal SATA will do fine
    2. 500GB is decent for now, and can be upgraded later
  • Chose case because:
    1. It generally sells for $10 less, making it a great buy
    2. It has dust magnets, 2*2.5" drive bays, an included blue LED fan, modular I/O, and a transparent panel
  • Chose PSU because:
    1. Wanted at least 80+ Bronze, and at least semi-modularity from a reputable brand
  • Chose OS because:
    1. Windows 10 Pro is a bad idea
    2. The full version is also useful, so that I can transfer it across motherboards
  • Chose case fan because:
    1. Got recommendations for it
    2. Looks decent
    3. Good price/performance
  • Chose monitor because:
    1. I had money to spare since my build itself looked solid, so I went with a 1440p panel
    2. I did not want a huge display, so that I could see everything at a time
    3. 60Hz refresh rate is not a concern
  • Chose speaker because:
    1. Cheapest 2.1 channel speaker
  • Chose webcam because:
    1. 1080p is a nice boost for video calling as compared to 720p
    2. Was inexpensive, and had good reviews on Amazon
  • Chose microphone because:
    • It was cheap, looked good and had decent reviews
    • I am actively looking for replacements for this part because I have an extra headphone jack on my Marshall 2 headphones. Is there an attachable microphone that I can get that stays there and hangs on?

What do you think of this build? Anything I should change?

Looks reasonable but I too wonder about the lack of a gpu. How will the system be used?

Also, I believe the chipset only supports up to DDR4-2666 so if a 2x8GB DDR4-2666 memory kit with good timings is less expensive, consider switching.

It will be run off the Intel iGPU. Very few Adobe CC applications make good use of a GPU, which is specifically why I chose a Mobo with 3 display outputs.

About the RAM- I agree.

Many, if not most Adobe CC applications use gpu resources to accelerate various functions. In addition, even a low end discrete gpu will offer a much snappier display. Unless the budget simply does not permit, I would suggest including a GTX 1050 or 1050 Ti.
