So I've got a weird problem. Trying to use an external hard drive causes it to disconnect and reconnect. Some of them are recognized when idle (have tried several external 2.5" drives and cables both usb2.0 and 3.0), and so is my dual HDD dock (externally powered) but anytime I try reading/writing they disconnect. I got one working by using a sata to usb2.0 adapter which uses a y-split cable from mini USB to dual USB-A type plugs (second USB plugs in for additional power only). I'm not sure if the issue is mobo related (since it happens on case USB ports as well as rear motherboard USB ports) or if it's PSU related. Peripherals like KB, mouse, bluetooth dongle and USB flash drives work fine and never disconnect, though they're low power anyway. Probably gonna try a different PSU I have lying around first since it'll be the easiest to do

CPU: AMD Sempron 2400+ / MOBO: Abit NF7-S2G / GPU: WinFast A180BT 64MB / RAM: Mushkin DDR333 256MBx2 / HDD: Seagate Barracuda 7200RPM 120GB
