Gpu or active converter not working

I worked on my pc editing videos and the monitor turned black it wouldnt detect any input.I tried it with a few monitors.

The monitor has a vga port so i used a active vga to hdmi converter i bought.I doubt it's the gpu but how can i make sure. The pc still posts and runs but there isn't any output.

Process of elimination: If the adapter is dead and you replace it, the input should work again. If not then it's probably the GPU...
