So I just delided my i7-7700k.

When I tried to boot it up. My asus motherboard had post the q-code CC for few seconds then turned 55.

Nothing had shown on the monitor.

I'm so worry now. Any ideas about my issue or my cpu just dead?

BTW, I found none scratch or damage on the CPU PCB. I found some pin bent on the MOBO but already fixed them into place.

No the CPU isn't dead, the post code for that would be 00 and you'd see a CPU fault LED on your board.

Look up what post code 55 is in your motherboard manual. If you don't have the paper one that came with your motherboard, you can probably find an electronic version on their website.

Main PC:

AMD Ryzen 7 5800X • Noctua NH-D15 • MSI MAG B550 Tomahawk • 2x8GB G.skill Trident Z Neo 3600MHz CL16 • MSI VENTUS 3X GeForce RTX 3070 OC • Samsung 970 Evo 1TB • Samsung 860 Evo 1TB • Cosair iCUE 465X RGB • Corsair RMx 750W (White)

Peripherals/Other:

ASUS VG27AQ • G PRO K/DA • G502 Hero K/DA • G733 K/DA • G840 K/DA • Oculus Quest 2 • Nintendo Switch (Rev. 2)

Laptop (Dell XPS 13):

Intel Core i7-1195G7 • Intel Iris Xe Graphics • 16GB LPDDR4x 4267MHz • 512GB M.2 PCIe NVMe SSD • 13.4" OLED 3.5K InfinityEdge Display (3456x2160, 400nit, touch).

Q-Code 55 stands for "no memnory installed" but I'm sure I did

This might be a memory issue. Have you tried booting with only one stick of RAM installed? Can you post your system specs please?

Yes I tried one stick on each slots.

My specs:

I7-7700k delided

Asus Maximus hero IX

Strix 1080ti

Corsair 32GB Ram (16x2)

Thank you for the news.

Any ideas how to fix that 55 qcode?

Well code 55 means memory not installed, this could mean your DIMMS are not seated properly in the lanes or the worst case is that your RAM is dead.

Memory issues are a big red flag for CPU issues. Have you completely assured that none of your CPU pins are bent, and it is correctly seated in the socket?

Like someone else said, remove all but 1 stick of ram, and test

So if there is a smallest scratch, how can I fixed the problem?

At that level, if it was a very small scratch, it would be very hard to fix. Maybe, impossible, even. Let's hope it's not that. How many times have you tired re-seating the CPU?

Twice. I tried loosing the screw as someone said, check the pin. But none fixed yet.

So guys. I just again took the CPU off to check the socket. As shown in the picture, I think no pin bent here. But some thermal paste stuck in it. Does it cause the problem?

Thermal paste in the CPU socket would absolutely cause issues. This would keep the CPU from making proper contact with pins and could even damage both the CPU and motherboard.

There was nothing on the monitor but "no signal". I can't even get into BIOS. Any suggestions?

That amount of thermal grease in your CPU socket has probably killed the motherboard.

Sorry.

We cant be sure if you killed the board. Most thermal paste is non conductive. What did you use to clean it out? This is an extremely delicate job. Alcohol and a very very thin brush like a small paint brush and leaving it to dry overnight could possibly get most of it out. Tbh due to how greasy thermal paste is you could still be left with a thin film on the pins that would be nearly impossible to remove. I am sorry i cant be of much help.
