Upgrading and need some advice

Evan Chaffee

Rig (NZXT H440)

- i7 6700k (cooled by h100i V2)
- 48 gb Corsair dominator platinum 3200
- 1TB HDD
- stock fans
- Rm 850 PSU
- gtx 1080
- 75hz 21:9 1080p
- razer blackwiddow - slightly braking
- razer mamba
- small razer speed mousepad
——|

Now I’m waiting to upgrade, does this sound alright?
1TB SSD - Samsung 850
New fans - Nactua
Monitor - either 240hz 1080p or a 165hz 1440p (recommendations welcome)
Keyboard - Corsair K95 RGB platinum
Mousepad - Corsair MM300 extended

——|

Thoughts and Recommendations are welcome! Just wanting to make sure I’ll be upgrading right.

The 1440p 165hz would be - PG279Q 27
The 1080p 250hz would be - PG258Q 24.5

—-| I was also thinking i could game on the 250/144 and use my ultra wide for a “streaming chat” and stuff like that, and or music and stuff? I am not sure if 21:9 and a 1440p or 1080 are compatible on one gpu? Would they scale odd?

I always suggest this monitor because I've been using them for a while and I have 3.

The 1T SSD is a yes from me.

The Noctua fans are really only worth the upgrade if you are aiming for silence or that your stock fans are choking your system.

Keyboard and mouse pad are all personal preference.

Personal experience leads me to recommend higher resolution over higher refresh rate over 60hz, LTT points out in a video that 240hz will look amazing but anything over 120hz and you start getting diminishing returns, with that in mind i would say aim for 1440p and 100hz range. I will pick higher res with higher refresh rate over max refresh rate at 1080p even if i have to lower my settings, you just cant beat it.

Remember this is all my personal opinion and each to their own but these are my recommendations good luck!

Main Rig - i5 4690k @ 4.5ghz  - NZXT kracken x61 - AsRock Z97 Pro4 - 16gb corsair vengeance ddr3 - GTX 1070 2083ghz core +600 memory - 2x 2 240gb ssd - 2x 2 terabyte Seagate barracuda- H440 - Silverstone 1000w gold modular - AOC 1440p 75hz 32".
