TV mostly for gaming: OLED or LCD?

Gdourado

Hello, how are you?

I am trying to choose a new TV and am torn between oled with the LG c7 or led with the Sony x900f.

I know oled has better blacks, contrast, pixel response time.
But all oled panels have some sort of vertical banding problem that worries me.

Led has more brightness and the Sony is said to upscale 1080p content better and have better motion handling.

So I just don't know what to choose.

The usage will be mostly gaming and just 20% time to watch some TV shows.

On Hdr games, what gives a better image?

The pure black and high contrast of the oled or the higher brightness of the led?

Cheers

I would do an IPS(LCD) screen for gaming. OLED will burn in. Can't wait for MicroLED technology.

OLED panels look amazing, but while gaming, menus like your inventory bar at the bottom, like in minecraft, burn the display and stay there permanetley. I would go with LCD.

for smart tv i would go with LG because of WebOS.

If you play on a Xbox one you might want to find one of those new TV's supporting Freesync?

I've got OLED, and I don't understand what this burn in talk is all about. I've played games on my TV for hours and hours, and never experienced burn in. Even games like No Man's Sky and Knack, which have very static HUD items, have left no burn in on my TV. Or one time I forgot to turn it of and it was left on the windows desktop for hours on end, and no burn in. I wouldn't worry. Otherwise, it's been a great display. Blacks are great, and latency has been not bad. Definitely recommended.

I read in some places that when playing Hdr games look quite dimm in lg oled TVs.

I know blacks are impressive on oled as they are pure black, but then, will it miss highlights and highlight detail?
