hey guys, I have a question.

I have d-link dir-615 and the ethernet port on it only has 10/100 Mbs. I would like to use a gigabit 10/100/1000 Mbs ethernet switch so that i may use my WD Mybook Live with full bandwidth, yet i still need my wifi from the router.

My plan is to connect my ISP modem to the ethernet switch then connect the switch to the router, my NAS, and 2 computers.

Would This setup work?

Yea it should work just fine. I'd disable the DHCP servers on both the switch (if it has one) and the router. That way the connected devices get their ips straight from the modem's DHCP pool.

Dhcp servers is modems aren't that great, or even don't have one. If you're switch supports it, set the dhcp server address on the switch, to the IP of the router. If the switch isn't "managed" just leave it the way you described and enable dhcp on the router.

@Kefuren if you set it up the way you describe, you're ping would be a bit on the high side, or even it starts dropping your connection.
