The ASUS ROG Aura Terminal has now been released, I am going to get one, since the Halo lighting idea looks pretty cool, but they only com with 2 x 30cm RGB strips, and 1 x 60cm.

Which doesn't quite cover a 35inch 21:9 monitor (83cm wide - 35cm high)

Does anyone know of some high quality addressable RGB strips, that are cuttable to length, and are at least 83cm long.

Anything more specific?

WS2812B - the standard

WS2813 - improved WS2812b

WS2801 - easy to drive and higher pwm frequency

APA201 - even higher PWM frequency and again SPI

SK6812 mini - small and simular to ws2812b

...

For most ambilights WS2812b 30 led/m are good enough. As PC software Prismatik (unoffical) is a good choice. As a driver any MCU which have serial or fast enough usb serial emulation will work.

If you only have 1080p a raspberry pi, hdmi splitter, hdmi to analog will work. Lightpack offers a expensive 4k solution which support HDCP.

WOW I didn't realise there was so many different types, I thought they were all the same.

How does PWM frequency relate to RGB strips? and what is SPI?
