GPS app android

I am looking for a offline gps app to use on my smartphone (android) and totally free would be nice.

Bad how? Phone's GPS alone isn't very good. It has something like 3-5m accuracy in open spaces and closer to 10m in build area or thick forests. Google Maps uses GPS along with mobile data and WiFi networks to enhance results to 1-3m accuracy (5m at worst).

 

What are you looking from this app? Directions for driving/walking? Or more tradition use with just coordinates, POI's, distances and so on?

 

I don't know anything off hand, its been long time since I used anything else than Google Maps. Usually they are all free with current maps costing.
