Hey Guys!

I recently installed Call of Duty, it was a compressed RAR file. I extracted it, and run the setup - Done. But then i download another Call of Duty and this time an ISO file, i mounted the image and then installed the game.

Now the question is, what is the difference between:

1.  Daemon tools and WinRAR/7-Zip

2. ISO files and RAR/Zip files

And i really dont know what is 'mounting an image'

Hoping for a positive response,

-Basil

An ISO file is the contents of a cd/dvd/br that's been dumped into a single file, in essence it's exactly the same principle as a zip/rar file. Think of it like a filing cabinet, the zip, rar or iso is the cabinet itself then inside of it can be any number of files or folders.

ISOs are usually dumps of discs (though not always) and are uncompressed

Zips & Rars can contain any files from anywhere.

Daemon tools creates a fake disc drive (aka a virtual drive) and when you mount an ISO it's just like you put the fake disc into the fake disc drive, it shows as if you put the real disc into a real drive.
