network problems

I dont know if I am able to ask this here, if not contacte me and I will take it down. But I am a pc machenic and I regularly need to copy data back and forth, so I do it to a NAS (over network transfer is fater than external usb drive). but the thing is everytime I copy data the internet speed to browse the web just drops down from 20 Mbps (I know its low but this is the best we can get in our store) to 0.20 Mbps. it only ocurs when I copy data, it hapends on a gigabit lan conection but it also hapends when I copy over a 100Mbps Lan conection. My question is if anyone knows a fix or has the same isue,

This is standard, the NAS is taking up all the bandwidth to do file transfer.

what router do you have? It may not be able to handle the load.

 

What speed do you get copying files to and from your nas?

 

Do you have any network

Are you sure you are using cat 5e or above? How long is your cable run (to the next switch or booster)?

 

You can check lan speed.

 

1. Go to control panel
2. Network and internet
3. Network and sharing center
4. Click on ethernet (it should be a hyperlink (blue underlined))
5. Does it say 1 Gbits next to speed?

Are you on PC, Linux or Mac?

No it's not. I have a nas and this does not happen on my gbit network even when the nas is copying files to my PC at near gbit speed.

Other question would be: what NAS do you have?

I use a windows desktop with an ssd, a core I5 3470 and 8 gigs of ram, We use a synology NAS with 4 drives of 4 TB in raid 1 and I get near 100 Mbps if it is one large file (smal files like pfoto's are like 20 to 30 Mbps). We also have an expensive gigabit router and a gigabit network switch

Please do the following and get back to me. You might have your network speed incorrectly set

 

1. Go to control panel

alright I have looked up all the model numbers

we have 2 networking switches, they are both tp-link, model number one is TL-SG108 and the other one is TL-SG1008D. We have one router from cisco and that model number is EA6500. and there is the modem from the network owners here, that one I cant find the model number on that. it has been replaced recently for thier newest model, I also included a picture of the window you wanted to see
