Yes, throw out what you bought and buy led strips from eBay for 20-50 moneys. Will come with power adaptor (not needed if you get the 12v version) and a remote to control the strip. Depending on the version you can have any colour you want with a ring on the remote. plus some have pulsing and flashing and fading patterns
