Right so I have a 1080 ti and I use this to game on I have my system upscaled to 4k on a 1080p screen. What happens is I get a little fps drop sometimes in games when I have Netflix / Microsoft edge .... what I'm thinking of doing is putting the 1030 gtx gpu I got into my system to run my second monitor off to see if this would help stop them drops ... what I want to know is how can I set my system up to run the gaming off the 1080 ti and the rest off the 1030 ?

Whats the motherboard? And CPU? If you non using something with more than 32 PCIe lanes, your going to be using a GTX 1080Ti at 8x. Another thing if your CPU has integrated GPU, enable it, and plug that other monitor in the Mobo output :)

Not true, he can have a 28 lane CPU and use the second card in a 4x or 1x slot. The 1080 Ti will still function at 16x that way since it's not connected to the other GPU.

Oh. Did't know that? BIOS setting?

Have a 7820X, the other slots are used by an Optane SSD and a 8x NIC, with the former at 4x and the latter at 1x respectively (I don't use 10gbit). It should be the same when you plug in a 1030, so he shouldn't need to do any setting if he has a CPU like mine, as long as he doesn't plug the second card to the second slot.

I have a msi gaming 7 z97 motherboard, with a i7 4790k cpu. I did try this b4 posting this but for some reason it tried running all my games off the 1030 and not the 1080 ti. I know you can change setting in Nvidia control panel. But when I tried changing anything or selecting the 1080 ti as the gaming card but the 1030 for like Mircosoft edge it showed like a weird symbol as if it had gliched. Any idea how to solve it ?

Why not use onboard video for Netflix or edge? I currently do that with my setup and no issues
