Build fr my wife

Basically, this build will be fr my wife. Her laptop died last week. So she has been using my main rig fr replying to her mails.

Here's what i m planning fr her..

I hv a core2duo e8500 laying around.

Also, I hv purchased a cheapo lga775 mobo from a guy, whom I purchased my 980ti from. This exact mobo https://www.lapcare.com/product/lapcare-945gc-chipset-motherboard-socket-775-lpm945/

Also, I have 2gb ddr3 laying around.

I'll use the HDD from her laptop.

I can reuse my old case.

Basically I have purchased all these parts with a grand total of $30.

This will be a temporary build as I'll be buying her new laptop next month on her birthday.

 

Here's one issue that I'm facing. Everything is booting and running fine. 

But the screen resolution it broken.

1024x768 on 1440p monitor.... everything kinda feels pretty big..

 

Currently I HV only one GPU laying around(980ti)...but that's fr some other build...also my PSU won't support it.

 

So suggest me something to fix that screen resolution issue without insisting me to buy a new GPU.

I read through the post twice, and I can't find you mention what GPU is used there currently. Also, do a SMART check on the drive, laptop drives really like to break.
