So I'm looking to maximize my budget by buying used, and I found a pretty good deal on a GTX 760($75 CAD - $58 USD). My only problem is, the guy has already sold the rest of his computer, and I haven't built mine yet, so there is no way to test it.

Is there some other way I could guarantee it works? Some visual tell tale signs that a GPU doesn't work? Should I just go for it anyway?

Thanks, Alex.

Nope. You pay your money and take a chance....

(EDIT)

Correction: You could borrow a PC from a computer shop or a friend and try that....

I personally wouldn't buy a GTX 760. Could just be me.

Any reason? Just curious...

No particular reason, I'd just shell out for a 780 or 1060 3Gb for 1080p games.

A 1060 3GB is four times the cost of this 760 and 780 is three times the cost. Even if I only use it for a couple months, it's miles ahead of Intel integrated.

At that price, there's no real need to test it. You're not asking for much, so you shouldn't expect much.

If anything, connect with your local community to see if you can just borrow someone's computer. I guarantee you have a neighbor with a computer tower that would let you borrow it for 20 mins to benchmark your card.

Thanks, Alex.

If your determined to get this you can try plugging a display port cable into it while the cable is also hooked into a powered monitor. From my experience that will cause the bios light to turn on in the card if it has one. Though do this particiular thing at your own risk, as I don't know if it's detrimental to the card. If your worried you can spend 20~50 dollars more and either get a slightly better card, such as the r9 280x, or another 760 with guaranteed functionality from a large ebay reseller.

Take the chance or borrow a pc. No real reason for that card but if that's the budget, I guess that's what youre gonna do.

Would rather not waste the cash or buy anything else above that.
