F1 2013

MPX309

Pretty cheap on steam, need a good driving game but don't have a wheel, is it a good game and still enjoyable with the pad?

Its enjoyable but just a heads up very different as a driving game if you used to sonething like grid and I found it quite challenging.

I'm bored of stuff like grid, and not into the whole open world driving stuff, I just like track stuff.

Think I'm gonna get it, it's christmas day. . . :D

I've played two seasons with a 360 pad and it is rather nice. But I've rarely played with a wheel, only during tradeshows.

I bought F1 2012 on sale earlier this year and god its tough to play with a Xbox 360 controller, it was a lot easier 10 years ago on the PS!, I got bored with it quickly and went back to good old Flatout games, more fun  ;)

I wouldn't recommend any drivings sims without a wheel. If it's fairly playable without a wheel, then it's not a very accurate sim.

Its decent once you get used to it with a pad provided you set up all the trim correctly. But for something like F1, its really best with dedicated wheel and pedals. F1 is one of those games that rewards high levels of finesse and control; games like Dirt, Grid, NFS all a bit more lenient judging from my experiences.

yeah I'm considering getting a wheel now.  .  . LOL I can see using a pad not even being half as fun / effective as a wheel, goddam thought it was cheap in sale, now it's gonna cost me more lol

Yeah, turning is a difficult as hell in this

youve got to slow down a fair bit which feels kinda weird but you make up with acceleration. I also felt it was all about being fluid more than other racing games ive played.

The only "sim" that I've played, which controls reasonably well on an analog stick is Gran Tourismo --but once you get the faster, more difficult to control cars that aren't forgiving of imprecise input, it's no longer fun with a gamepad.

How much are wheels these days? I've still got my old Sidewinder wheel from 10 years ago.
