Cheap and Basic gaming rig

can some poeple help me put together a list of components for a cheap gaming rig, would like to go with intel, but what ever is the cheapest tbh. would be playing games like fortnite/warframe. nothing to extreme and would play on low everything, budget is around 100-150$ USD.

With only $150, it will be hard. Get a used optiplex with an i3 or even better, i5 and buy 8gb of ram, then buy a 750ti.

 

it wont be powerful, but it will do.

Buy a used prebuilt computer and put a GPU in it, that's your best option.

$100-$150 is a really tough price range, but it can be doable if you can get good deals.

 

You could look around on Craigslist for a Core i3 or i5 desktop with 8GB RAM (I'd pay around $80 to $100) and put a GT 1030 or GTX 750 Ti (if the PC is large enough). That would give you a decently playable Fortnite and Warframe experience, but it would probably cost a little more.

 

Note: DO NOT BUY THE GT 1030 WITH DDR4 MEMORY. IT PERFORMS AROUND HALF AS WELL AS THE NORMAL GDDR5 GT 1030. Any card with "D4" in the model name is an immediate red flag, but check the specifications before you buy.

i will definatly do this, also my cousin is upgrading his GPU some time soonish, and he said he will give me his old GPU which is a 1060ti if i remember correcly, i have a 750ti rn, that i would prolly throw into the system for my friend.

my bad i didnt see a new builds section, i also didnt look that hard, thank you. and fortnite would be the most exteme game my friend would play, he doesnt like fortnite anyways but plays cause its cross plat.

If he plays because it's cross platform, he might as well get an Xbox or Playstation....

 

You would be pretty hard pressed to get a Fortnite capable rig at your budget, you're in for a lot of used market hunting

he has an xbox and also a playstation, he wants to start to get into pc gaming, he just wants to build a cheap rig to start off with and upgrade/ whole new build down the road.

He might be better off selling one or both of his consoles to increase his budget for a gaming PC.

It's really hard to get into PC gaming with a low budget, unfortunately.

 

You might have to save up a couple hundred more or so.

The hard truth is that unless he wants to ghetto rig a computer together, he's going to need more money to spend on it.
I'm sure he doesn't want a PC that performs worse than his consoles right? The PC can play a lot of the Xbox One games due to Xbox Play Anywhere, so he could still enjoy some of his games that way.

But even $200 for a gaming PC is a tough asking price. Unless he wants to go for a low spec gaming route, but I doubt that.

yeah, ill prolly just have him order like a part a month or so, till we can put something together, its hard when we both work on cars with basically all our free time, that shit expensive just like pc gaming lol

I would honestly advise against getting parts one at a time. Often you can save a few bucks by getting combo deals.

 

IMO, the only parts you can really get on their own are the PSU and case once you know what parts you're going to be getting.

well i didnt mean literal one part at a time, i know its fairly easy to get discounts/deal when buying hardware together. but my point is he'll slowly stack up the parts, over the course of a few months. i do thank everyone for their help, and input helps out a bunch

lol will do boss, my project is a 1939 chevy coupe master delux rn, just had to order a full engine gasket kit, with piston rings and new valve seals, so it will be a mission.
