because HBM memory used by Vega cards are far more expensive than GDDR5X used by the gtx 1080.

Vega is better at mining and costs more to make. I doubt Vega will ever make sense for gaming. Hell even when they cost the same, the 1080 makes more sense for gaming because they perform the same while consuming less power meaning lower noise and/or temperatures.
