Using old monitor for case mod?

I was wondering if someone had already done this and if they could offer some advice. I was thinking about using an old monitor, pulling out the backlight and then essentially gluing the display minus backlight to the tempered glass part of the case. There was a case at CES here that does exactly what I want to do. The monitor I could pull apart is 16:9 at 19 inches.

Depending on the monitor you might want to remove the psu and hack a 12v molex to it or replace the display controller if it is to large.

I think its some weird brand called Soyo i think
