Worth the Upgrade?

15 Pro cost what?  $1000?  Sell for $500, then buying S24U for $1200?  Equates to a $1700 S24U.

Interesting.  You haven't spoken one word on why you think it would be a good trade.  I sure as fuck wouldn't do it, but I am not you.

To answer you, no.  Not worth the perceived "upgrade".

With the release of the Samsung S24 Ultra and RCS texting on IOS 18, is it worth trading in and upgrading to the S24U? I have been annoyed by how Apple can implement technology Andriod has been using since 2010 and pass it off as innovative, so that is why I want to switch. I pre-ordered the iPhone 15 Pro in SEP2023, but I am still iffy about my decision. The trade-in value for the 15 Pro is $500, and there is a military discount of $40.

Since you mention no pricing for the s24, I assume you're asking us if switching ecosystems for some sort of texting that won't be any different than texting has been for decades....???

No?  It's texting.  You type some stuff, hit send and someone gets a message.  How innovative or worth any change is it?

What is it about the S24U or what it can do is supposedly so much better it's worth looking at?

Is "I have been annoyed by how Apple can implement technology Andriod has been using since 2010 and pass it off as innovative, so that is why I want to switch." not a good argument? What are some things that I may be missing or misunderstanding? I'm tired of Apple and its lack of innovation to improve since they know they know that people still buy their stuff for the name.

Honestly id just get like a pixel 7a or something like that. No reason to massively overpay for a phone again like a s24 ultra thing. Plenty 600$-800$ devices (and sometimes even below) that make the 1000+ class look way overpriced.

With a 7a or an asus zenphone 10 or ... even with the very poor trade in value of 500$ for a 15 pro you pay like 150$ or so on top and voila stock android experience without all the samsung bloat and best of all no Bixby trash!

^^^

only things worth 1000$+ would be those folding phones that fold out into a tablet, and those depreciate massively when buying used to the point that i can find used fold 3 for like 400$ in good condition over here in indo, even a used fold 4 is only ~600$ compared to the fold 5 at 1200$+ new

depends on your needs though as anyone that doesnt need high specs for gaming or something can get away with an even cheaper phone

I don't think money is an issue here.  We're not all budget minded.

Great points tho.   I'm loving where the OnePlus previous gen phones are at price wise.

Hell even their new ones arent that bad a couple months after launch especially when looking at the competition.

Bonus is that xiaomi, oppo and oneplus compete internally with a race to the bottom so just by waiting a couple months one will release a very similar phone to the other but for way less 😛
