I'm currently running a single 560Ti in my rig at the moment but have been looking to upgrade to a bigger eyefinity setup, and using some AMD cards.

At the moment i have no idea as to the performance i can expect from an eyefinity setup or what price range of card i will be looking for

Also, does the CPU have a significant impact on the performance from multiple monitors? 2700k?

Any suggestions, info or what i performance i can expect would be much appreciated

thanks in advance

Hello BishopsToenail , lol funny name, welcome to the GPU forums I'll try to help you out as much as I can.

To run a 3 monitor Eyefinity setup I would recommend a minimum of x1 HD 7970 to play the majority of games on 30+ FPS, 3GB of GDDR5 VRAM is going to be enough.

www.tomshardware.com/reviews/toxic-hd-7970-eyefinity-6gb,3264-9.html

If you want more performance I then would recommend a CrossfireX setup of two 7950s.

As for the CPU, the eyefinity setup itself isn't CPU bound at all, whether you will need a lot of CPU power or a lot of GPU power depends entirely on the game.

We have games like Skyrim, which is greatly CPU bound, we also have games like Far Cry 3 & BF3 while they benefit slightly from faster CPUs they are for the most part GPU bound.

The best way for us to help you out is for you to state a budget and we'll work within that budget to provide you the best possible eyefinity experience.

A good setup with one 7970, 3 high quality IPS 1080p monitors and an FX 8350/i5 3570K processor will cost between 1400-1600$ .

An excellent eyefinity setup with 2 7950s will cost 200$ more so 1600-1800$ .

Please list your system spec, as well as your budget....and whether you'd consider going CFX. I have been running EyeFinity 3x 24" monitors since the launch of the HD5870, and snagging a pair for CF action. I now game with the same monitors, but with 3x HD7970's......you do not need multi cards unless you want to run games at max, or near max setting @5760x1200. A single HD7970 can handle most games @5760x1200, some even at max setting (for games like Dead Space 1/2/3, Bioshock 1/2/Infinite) and basically all Source games at full tilt. It's games like BF3, and especially games like Crysis 3, Metro 2033, and the like that you'd have to tone down ingame setting significantly for better framerate @5760x1200. Two HD7970's would pretty much ensure you can do BF3 at max setting (that is, Ultra + 4xMSAA). Anyway, do let us know the required info so that we'd be able to give you an informed opinion....

So my current system specs are as follows:

Intel 2700k - with corsair H80

Gigabyte Z77-Ds3h

Silverstone RV03

i currently have 1 Iiyama prolite E2475HDS and would be looking for another two

I would be prepared to go for crossfire, providing that either what i gain or save by going for that option is worth it

thanks for the hasty replys

What games do you play ?

Generally I play games such as Skyrim, Battlefield BC 2 and sometimes CounterStrike. However, when games such as Bioshock Infinite and Assassins Creed 3 came out I spent loads of time on them. Other than that, I play indie games and sometimes ARMA II

As for a budget, I live in the UK and will have to apologize if my conversion is terribly inaccurate, but for the card itself I would probably be prepared to spend up to £300 (probably around $400) at most but would prefer to spend around £200-£250 (however i doubt that will happen) (about $300)

Looking at my conversions... they really don't seem right.. (here's where I shop for UK prices http://www.novatech.co.uk)
