Hi guys well i have an gtx 570 directcu2 which needs an 8 pin pcie power cable and as well as a 6 pin so my power supply just had an 6 pin pcie cable. So i am deciding to buy a new power supply to power up my gpu but now when i check at the online psu calculator with my specs including gpu it says i need 450watts but on the box of the gpu it says minimum 600watts.So how many watts does it actually require? Thanks in Advance

a good 550w psu is enough.

CPU: AMD Ryzen 5 5600X Heatsink: Gelid Phantom Black GPU: Palit RTX 3060 Ti Dual RAM: Corsair DDR4 2x8GB 3000Mhz mobo: Asus X570-P case: Fractal Design Define C PSU: Superflower Leadex Gold 650W

you really only need around 500-600 watts today. providing it is a good powersupply. if you care about noise aswell you might want to go a bit overkill. say a Seasonic FOCUS 750 watt gold powersupply, but generally you can get away with 500. unless offcourse you have a powerhungry monster like the Vega 64

No i dont care about noise so will think of going for the 550w then thank you for the answer

Ok so that wont cause unexpected shutdowns right?ps Thanks for the answer

nope, I'd look for a cx550/m, pure power 10 or masterwatt.

With a 1080 Ti system, you're looking at under 400W. So a good 450W is enough. For a 1080 system and below, there's absolutely no reason to get more headroom.

If he cares about noise, he should get a quiet PSU, not a high wattage PSU. For example, the noisy G3 550W runs at 1400 RPM at 330W load. Meanwhile, the 850W G3 runs at 1750 RPM at 340W. With the Focus Plus Gold, the 550W version runs at exactly the same fan RPM, 560RPM, at 330W load. And so on.

With the Vega 64, you're still looking at under 550W

:)

the argument for high wattage PSU are that on the lower end of power usage their fan isnt spinning at all. in the case of seasonic 750 watt that would be around 30% load. that would be at 225 watt usage, but i agree that you should get a quiet psu as some high wattage supplies are very noisy.

this being the profile it will be running

then again the seasonic is only a suggestion, ive not dived to deep into powerspupplies

Here's the link to Cybenetics. You can, amongst other things, see the noise level. And a low RPM fan is pretty much the same as running passively. Feel free to dive into the info and compare. There's also a post somewhere in the tier list, where someone compared the fan RPMs of different wattage PSUs.

With overclocking, the Vega 64 has a 400W power limit. Adding the usual 60-100W for the rest of the system, and you're looking at around 500W.

i wouldnt be to comfertable running that close to the powerlimist as a full system load without the GPU can often draw more than the 60-100 watt. that is especially the case with an 8 core cpu. also a PSU running at 100 or 110% rated speed isnt allways the most silent thing in the world. i do get you point though. Total System consumption rarely if ever go above 500 watts in mainstream systems
