I recently got a new modem and tried to connect it to my old router (Asus AC3100). The modem works fine, I can connect to the internet from it, but the router has been causing me issues. When I connect the modem to the router, and boot up the router, the WAN led turns pink. Not blue, not white, not red, but pink. Nothing can connect to it wirelessly. I connected my laptop to the router via ethernet, and tried going to the router GUI. I tried router.asus.com, nothing. I tried the default IP of 192.168.1.1, nothing. I 30-30-30 hard reset it, same as before. I've heard people have solved the issue with new firmware, but I can't even get to the GUI. I've been working on this for 3 days and have no idea what to do. I appreciate any help.

I would try and get to the firmware without your modem connected. See what firmware you have, and then use your phone or the computer to download the latest.

Then connect directly to the router and run the updates. If no updates, do a factory restore.

The only possible issue crossing my mind that would be easy to fix is if this is a network conflict. Check to see if the modem is broadcasting the 192.168.0.0 network and while detached from the modem setup the router on the 192.168.1.0 network. Plug the router in and see if it behaves. Provided you haven't tried this already.

The router is suppose to detect the network on the WAN interface and then broadcast a different Class C network (usually in ascending order ie. 192.168.0.0, 1.0, 2.0, etc...) . If for any reason this isn't working you can manually make sure the networks are different. Identical networks on both the LAN & WAN interfaces won't let anything work.
