Ryzen 1700x vs i7 7700 for rendering

i have two systems, one with a i7 7700 and a GTX 1070 with 16gb of ram. the other system has an 1700x with a 4gb Radeon 550 and 8gb of ram. I'm currently completing an assignment for architecture and wondering if i would be better off sticking with my intel system for rendering (in both 3ds max and revit), or if I'm better off going for my amd build. as i know both programs really don't use the graphics card and now focus on cpu rendering rather then gpu, which system is really best?

If you have both systems, why dont you render on both of them side by side, and see which is faster and by how much?

But the 8gb of ram might limit the amd system.

Swap RAM between the two system, then use Ryzen.

 

If 7700 is a DDR3 system, then you cant do that. Still, more cores and threads makes Ryzen a LOT faster.

Ryzen. AMD CPU's aren't always necessarily aimed at gaming, infact I'd hazard a guess that they're more oriented toward workstation tasks such as rendering since they always come out better in workstation benchmarks than their intel counterparts.
