I am nearing finishing my build but am uncertain on which psu to get. The following is my PC Part Picker link to my build: https://au.pcpartpicker.com/list/2PJTnH. I am wondering if I 600w is good enough, I know the estimate is about 400 but I read that it is inaccurate and wanted others opinion. Thanks.

A good 450-550W is more than enough for that.

For example Bitfenix Formula, Whisper M, Cougar GX-F

yeah like 650 should be fine

a 650 running the system easily is better than a 400 just barely scraping by

No and no.

A good 400W is preferable to a shitty 650W.

ie rather get a 450W Straight Power 11, Bitfenix Formula or Whisper M instead of a 650W Thermaltake Smart, EVGA W1 or shit like that.

There isn't an advantage of getting the 600W, especially since it often is louder than the 400W!

I dont recall saying to buy a low quality 650w.

You didn't recommend a specific model, you only said something about 650W and that "a 650W" would be better than "a 400W".

So you weren't talking about specific units, you were talking about Wattage.

And I used specific models to prove this statement wrong. And it is.

You want a good quality first, Wattage does NOT matter at all, if it is enough, it is enough.

If you have a 200W PC, there is no advantage to use a 650W or a 1000W PSU. NONE!

You even get Disadvantages like more damage in a fault situation, because of larger Bulk Capacitance, higher set Trip Points and of course higher fan speeds as well.

There is an advantage to get a higher quality PSU however!

Lower fan speed, higher quality fan, lower fan noise, longer expected usage time and other features.

What parts have you purchased thus far? I'd highly advise against getting an overpriced AIO that'll have pump failure in a year, especially given it's price of half your CPU's cost. You could get a much better CPU for the price you're paying for the 8600K + X62. Get a be Quiet or Noctua cooler instead. It'll cool just as well and won't break. That board might also not be the best buy, but again, I want to know what parts you've purchased so far.

An 8600K and 1080 will consume about 250W under load without overclocking. With overclocking you'll probably hit around 350W. A 550W EVGA G3/G2, Corsair RMi/RMx, Seasonic Focus Plus Gold, Bitfenix Whisper/Formula, be Quiet Straight Power 10 - the list goes on for options you have. Just try to aim for a 550W unit.

My account is almost entirely dormant. Hope you all are having a grand time. Many years of fun were had here.

All I have got so far is the case, mobo and memory. Also is it the particular aio you disagree with or an aio all together? My build is partly driven by aesthetics which is why some of the more flashy parts might not make sense like the mobo and aio, still though I would love to hear your thoughts. Thanks for the feedback.

Any AIO, but especially Asetek ones. Look up user reviews that mention pump failure, anything dating back to the original Corsair H100i, when Corsair started using Asetek for all of their units. An air cooler can get just as good cooling performance without the reliability issues.
