Overclocking decreases performance

Does anyone have any clue why I get more stutter in CS:GO after overclocking? I have a shit laptop with a shit GPU but still, you would expect to have better/more stable fps after an overclock. 

 

P.S. Overclocked an 720m from 800mHz base clock to 920 and +150 to memory clock(i think those were the numbers, or somewhere in the neighborhood). My theory is that I have my charger plugged in and also have my battery in so the battery might not be able to provide enough current for the CPU/GPU to maintain a stable fps(with cl_showfps 1 in cs, it shows constant 90(thats the value I have it locked at) but the stutter is extremely noticeable).

well it could be a few reasons mainly thermal throttling or it could be the CPU is a bottleneck if it's a older model core 2 duo pc not being able to keep up with the overclock

Maybe the system just can't stay stable with the overclock...
