Mostly gaming I might stream aswell though

If you can stretch a little north of $800, I'd recommend something like this.

But if you can't stretch north of $800, this would be a pretty good fit IMO.

I friend of mine got a gaming computer off the Dell website for just under $900 with a 1060 and i3 8100.

What is actually supposed to go here? Some people put their specs, others put random comments or remarks about themselves or others, and there are a few who put cryptic statements.

I disagree!

Here is my reasoning:

-Prebuilts can be more expensive because manufacturers can raise the price because they are "building" the pc

-Sometimes, prebuilts restrict upgradability (lack of space for full size gpu, unique motherboard shape, etc.)

-You have a better chance, withe the gpu prices lowering, to get a better price by building yourself.

I will try to post a reply on this thread with part recommendations to accommodate your budget

Baaaaad idea. Unless you really can't build a PC, there aren't many advantages to getting a prebuilt.

Main PC:

AMD Ryzen 7 5800X • Noctua NH-D15 • MSI MAG B550 Tomahawk • 2x8GB G.skill Trident Z Neo 3600MHz CL16 • MSI VENTUS 3X GeForce RTX 3070 OC • Samsung 970 Evo 1TB • Samsung 860 Evo 1TB • Cosair iCUE 465X RGB • Corsair RMx 750W (White)

Peripherals/Other:

ASUS VG27AQ • G PRO K/DA • G502 Hero K/DA • G733 K/DA • G840 K/DA • Oculus Quest 2 • Nintendo Switch (Rev. 2)

Laptop (Dell XPS 13):

Intel Core i7-1195G7 • Intel Iris Xe Graphics • 16GB LPDDR4x 4267MHz • 512GB M.2 PCIe NVMe SSD • 13.4" OLED 3.5K InfinityEdge Display (3456x2160, 400nit, touch).

Got any questions about my system or peripherals? Feel free to tag me (@bellabichon) and I'll be happy to give you my two cents.

PSA: Posting a PCPartPicker list with no explanation isn't helpful for first-time builders :)

Is that a gpu near msrp? It's a fricking unicorn. I knew prices were going done a little but they seem to be go back to normal again. Anyways The 2400g gives better price to performance based solely on the cpu last time I looked.

I would try something along the lines of this partlist right here if you can't really stretch your budget much:

https://pcpartpicker.com/list/TFL78Y

The 1050ti is still an amazing budget card, and it is a great time to buy because the prices are lowering.

I hope this helped!

Nah, that's nowhere near MSRP. IIRC, MSRP of a 1060 should be around $250 or so.

Yeah, the 2400G is pretty legit for the price. I haven't seen any reviews showing how it compares to the 1500X, but the 1500X should be able to exceed a stock 1600X without much issue if OP wanted to overclock.

On that token, the 1600X is noted to be faster than the 2400G in pretty much everything https://www.pcgamesn.com/amd-ryzen-5-2400g-review-benchmarks

That said, going with the 1500X for the 2 extra cores for video encoding and streaming seems like the better way to go, especially since PCPartPicker lists the 2400G as more expensive than the 1500X. https://pcpartpicker.com/products/cpu/#s=60&sort=price&page=1

On release the 2400 was the same price with better clocks. Then again I forgot it doesn't have as high of OC potential because of it not being soldered. But 280 was around what alot of aftermarket 1060 sold for when prices were relatively normal.

I would definitely go for 16gb of ram for futureproofing's sake. I would definitely recommend getting ryzen 1500x and a 1050ti if you do get 16gb of ram though.

he can just put in another 8gb in the future, no need to cut down performance that much for ram.
