Upgrade for a RIG

Hello,

This is my first post here, I think I am posting it in the wrong place, but I hope you will forgive me this one time.

So what I wanted to ask was, which part needs to be updated most in my PC.

CPU:Intel Core i5 3470

Motherboard:ASUS P8H61-M LX3 R2.0

GPU:GTX1060 3GB

SSD: Samsung 860 PRO 512GB

HDD: Western Digital WDC WD10EZEX-60WN4A0 1TB

Case: I don't even know the name.

RAM: Hyperx Fury 8GB 1600 DDR3

Display:ViewSonic VX2239 SERIES

I know it's not the best RIG out there, but I can't afford to upgrade everything at once, so I wanted to ask about the priorities of the upgrades in this case, which part should I upgrade after which, step by step.

THere was mentioned in the thread something about the Location, so it is USA.

And also the computer will be used 90% of the time for Gaming.

Thanks in advance

I'd say upgrade the CPU/mobo/RAM first. The 1060 3GB will be enough for 1080p gaming for now and the 4c/4t CPU from 2012 will become the biggest problem.

A decent affordable upgrade would be an i5 8400/8GB DDR4 2666 and a B360 or H370 mobo. Alternatively, Ryzen 5 1600/2600 with 8GB DDR4-3000/3200 and a B350 board.

PC Specs - AMD Ryzen 7 5800X3D MSI B550M Mortar - 32GB Corsair Vengeance RGB DDR4-3600 @ CL16 - ASRock RX7800XT 660p 1TBGB & Crucial P5 1TB Fractal Define Mini C CM V750v2 - Windows 11 Pro

CPU + Mobo + RAM go first. New Nvidia cards should be affordable at the end of this year, so dont upgrade the 1060 at this point.

I'm not sure how to place the position of case and monitor upgrade. Do they satisfy you?

Also, check the power supply. It should be replaced when warranty expires, for the sake of your hardware's safety

Graphics card still owns it own in 1080p gaming. as @NelizMastr mentioned a cpu, Ram, mobo upgrade is in place. more cores and threads is the future atm

sadly the issue is that

1. DDR3 doesnt work in newer cpus. you will need DDR4 and that doesnt work in your current mobo.

2. more modern cpus like 8400 and the 2600 doesnt work in your Motherboard.

you will need to upgrade all of those at once sadly.

can't I upgrade MOBO first and then others then? why it should be done all at once?

your Current CPU nor RAM fits in any motherboard that has a modern CPU socket in it (talking 6000 series intel and up and 1000 series AMD and up). you can upgrade the CPU to another CPU that fits in your current LGA socket. however if you want something that is this gen or last gen you will need to do a full upgrade of a Mobo, CPU and RAM

I can't buy them all at once, so that is why I was asking for step by step upgrade, I can only buy one item at a time

Can you please give me an advice about which motherboard and CPU I should buy? The budget for both will be something like 450$
