So I am upgrading to a new case, I ordered the Fractal Design Define R6 and it will be arriving soon, I also decided to get rid of my gigantic CPU heatsink/fan combo and go for a 280mm AiO cooler which will also be arriving soon.

My question is about the placement.  I've watched several video's detailing the temp differences, but none that I found considered what I am thinking of doing, which is..  I want to mount the radiator at the bottom (if it will fit, which according to the chassis specs, it should) pulling cooler air in from the bottom.  The case seems like it has enough clearance at the bottom to make that possible without choking off airflow.  My concern however is how it will impact the GPU which will be sitting a few inches above it.

Is this a sound idea, or should I mount it elsewhere?

Thanks for your help.

Shoulda got a case with actual airflow my man.

Probably remove the top panel and mount it in the top? with all your intake in the front?

Probably not a good idea to put it in the bottom or front.

I edit my posts a lot, Twitter is @LordStreetguru just don't ask PC questions there mostly...

Spoiler

What is your budget/country for your new PC?

what monitor resolution/refresh rate?

What games or other software do you need to run?

It's not really cooler at the bottom, the difference is too small. You won't get any real improvement.

If you are going to set the PC on a carpet, you're gonna have much worse temps.

Also dust cleaning will be much worse at bottom. Not worth it IMO.

According to reviews and research I've done, its a good case.  I had a budget to deal with, and I liked the drive bays since I have 3 3.5 HDD's, and 1 SSD.

It won't be sitting on the carpet so there won't be interference from that, also the case has a case long dust filter at the bottom, the front, and the top.  I could mount the AiO at either of those locations but was curious if it will effect thermals on the GPU if I placed it at the bottom.  According to one of the video tests I just watched, the CPU and GPU had the best temps with the rad mounted on the front, but it didn't compare bottom mounting.

I'm gonna guess that the temperature differences are few degrees at best. The placement doesn't usually affect that much, unless it is very tight space with little airflow. Best way to find out, is to just run your own tests and see, what works out best.

There can be a dust filter, but it's not going to keep away all of the dust.

I was hoping someone had experience in this already so I wouldn't have to sit here for hours testing everything.
