with ram its always a gamble that it works, however the mem controller supports 16gb 1600mhz so it technicaly should work

 

i strongly do not recommend to buy ram kits second hand as ram is very sensitive and even dust particles can cause unstable kits ( dust isnt the reason why, the sensivity of them is )

The one you link already has 16GB (4x4GB). why are you buying 16GB (2x8GB) again? Or are you buying two?

 

According to Kingston website, it recommend the one you linked.

The laptop does have 16GB of RAM, but I would like to see if there is a path to upgrade to 32GB.

I would wait until you save up and buy both set together. This way if you decide not to upgrade and just get a new computer, you dont waste money on the RAM
