I do not know whether to say that it is not posting, booting or turning on, so I just said turning on. (I don't think that is correct)

I am currently fixing my friends computer, and it seems to not turn on at all, a light does shine on the motherboard though, its green.

I've tried all of the common fixes like resetting the power button pins and the ram, but nothing seems to work, AND can barely see anything through the god-awful cable management. I am pretty good at computers so please don't judge me (people always do I don't know why), this one is just pretty difficult.

Specs:

500 watt cooler master power supply

Unidentified Intel CPU (probably before 2011)

Nvidia quadro 4000

Unidentifiable intel motherboard (possibly 1156?) (ATX)

4x2GB DDR3 RAM

Sata hard drive and SSD

Please don't argue with me, I am just trying to help, or be helped. (we are all humans right?)

Try removing drives, gpu, any other peripherals. With just mobo/cpu/ram and power, see if it posts using integrated graphics

CPU: AMD Sempron 2400+ / MOBO: Abit NF7-S2G / GPU: WinFast A180BT 64MB / RAM: Mushkin DDR333 256MBx2 / HDD: Seagate Barracuda 7200RPM 120GB

Can you take a picture of the inside of the case, showing as many of the connectors as you can?

Check the switch on the back of the PSU is on (as well as the wall socket).

Have you tried jumping the PSU without it being connected to the system to see if it powers on?

Tried jumping the power_SW pins?

Do any fans spin up at all when you press the power button?

Any beeps?

*facepalm* yes I have tried all of those things, all it does when I plug it in is a green light shows up on the motherboard. the power button is unresponsive.

Doesn't seem to be anything missing (though the 24pin looks like it's not quite seated properly, so check that, though it may just be the picture). Main thing I was looking for was a missing EPS power connector, it's surprising how often people forget it, even experienced builders.

So bridging the power_SW pins doesn't work either?

If not, I''d unplug everything and jump start the PSU to see if the fan spins up (if you've already tried that, what happened?)

Considering how there's no fans spinning or beeps, I suspect it's a PSU or motherboard issue. Typically if it's RAM, GPU or CPU, the system will go into a boot loop rather than being completely unresponsive.

Wow thanks I'll do that.
