HDMI troubles

Go to solution Solved by TyrantLK,

Update 2: terrible news, I plugged it in but it wouldn't work, so I unplugged it and the piece fell into my pc

Warning: very to the PCs so I don't know much

So I was replugging in my HDMI cable but I couldn't. A little metal piece was sticking into it, blocking the coard. So I bent it backwards so the coard could fit. But now whenever I plug in the HDMI coard in, it doesn't work. Im freaking out not knowing what that metal thing is, so 1. What is it and 2. Can I fix it

Those are grounding tabs, they touch the outside of the port on the inside of the PC like so:

If you have a graphics card installed, you need to plug into the graphics card, not into the motherboard.

Metal tab is there to provide grounding, you can remove it, or remove the motherboard and reinstall it making sure the tab is on the other side.

It looks to me that you have the tab you bent on the side, and one still in the HDMI port on the bottom.

So the HDMI not working is unrelated?
