Open air vs Blower in mATX Case

So I'm upgrading from my 970 to a 1070 ti, and got looking into which cooler type I should get for my build as its a slightly smaller than normal size at mATX form factor. My case is a Fractal Design Define Mini C, equipped with a Corsair Hydro H115i (280mm) in the front and a 120mm exhaust fan in the back. What I hear the most in videos and light forum reading is that open air is for big boxes like ATX and blower style are for small builds like mini-ITX, but what about my build?

The Mini C isn't that small of a case. I'd still get an open air cooler, just make sure you have proper air movement.

the Mini C isn't much smaller than a standard ATX case, and i doubt the GPU will be choked by the shroud so an open-air cooler would be better.

Welcome to the forum.

Yeah, the 280mm fans should be pushing pretty well. Slightly hotter air since it passes through the radiator, but still.

And thanks! ^^

I thought this too! And its a very tidy case with most of the cables being on the backpanel, not to mention there is no front panel stuff at all (the reason you can actually fit 280mm in there).

My 970 is a MSI Gaming brand with open-air cooling already, and that one seems to be breathing fine.
