Help!!!! Windows 8 not installing!!!

My friend has a copy of windows 8 and it will not install on his new gaming PC, he has an AMD 8350, an Asus M5 A97 R2.0, a Gigabyte Windforce R9 280X and a Samsung 840 Evo 120GB SSD.

 

The install starts and gets the the point where it says "Getting devices ready", it then get's to around 26 or 58% each time and then the screen just goes black. Nothing happens after this. We've tried re installing windows, we've used 2 different monitors ( 1 HDMI and 1 DVI ), we've used USB and PS2 keyboard and mouse set ups, we've formatted the SSD and re-flashed the bios. The only thing we haven't done is taken the whole apart and built it again ( We wouldn't want to do this).. so anyway does anyone have any ideas of solutions to this problem? It would be greatly appreciated and if anyone can solve this , he will actually send you some money in the post ! Thank you :)

Is it a real copy of windows?

Go to http://windows.microsoft.com/en-SG/windows-8/upgrade-product-key-only and install WIndows 8 with a tumb thumb drive. See how it will work.

It is a real copy, bought from Scan in the UK.

 

We dont have a hard drive to hand, he just got an SSD, a hard drive is coming in the future.

There might be an option in the BIOS to switch between AHCI and IDE mode on the SATA ports. Play with that a little and see what happens.

Could be a faulty ram stick

All 8gb of RAM are read by the bios

 

Go to http://windows.microsoft.com/en-SG/windows-8/upgrade-product-key-only and install WIndows 8 with a tumb drive. See how it will work.

The only other option is to use Ubuntu...
