Need Help With X58 Overclocking.

Ok I have the parts listed below. I can't seem to find an overclock that works. Is there something I'm missing or do I just have a crap chip?

 

Asus rampage III Extreme (fresh cleaning with break cleaner. And new thermal pads on vrm and new mx4 paste on NB and SB)

Intel Xeon x5675

Coolermaster lite liquid 120 aio

12gb of ddr3 1600 ram

x58 Xeon doesnt like 2:1 ratio try 1.5:1

You're trying to get 4.4GHz on a ~100W 6 core chip, which is at default 3.066ghz, and you're only using a 120mm all in one cooler?

 

I'm surprised your chip hasn't melted.

 

Try a more reasonable overclock like 3.833 first and then try pushing. 4.4 would be close to a top 1000 chip of that generation assuming it had enough cooling - I guarantee a 120mm AIO is not.

Brian from Tech yes city as well as others I have seen have gotten this to 4.5ghz on air coolers.

Also Max temps when I did have it running were 83c and thermal limit for the CPU is 110c
