Posted May 2, 2018 Hello everyone! I hope this posts finds you in good spirits, but I am really frustrated right now with Gigabyte Technology. First things first, I ascended recently from a 550ti to an i7 6700k and a gtx 1080 (Big jump, I know, I got a deal on both). However, the Motherboard came from a system in a custom case, without an IO shield. At the time, I didnt really think I would need an IO shield, so I did not press the seller. 6 months down the road, I really regret it. My inwin 101 case arrives Wednesday (Tomorrow), and I do not have an IO shield to install. I called gigabyte, and they responded my email rma request by simply saying "Unfortunately, we do not have an I/O Shield for this product." My product is under warranty still, I request an RMA, and they deny it, stating we do not have it. What is the point of my Warranty if I can not even use it on the manufacturers end? My stickers are intact, my motherboard is 100% working, I am using it right now in an open air bench. Honestly, in my opinion, this is no way to run an RMA service!!!! Posted May 2, 2018 To be fair, you should've pressed the seller. It's not Gigabyte's responsibility to help you because the previous owner lost it/didn't give it to you. It would be Gigabyte's fault if it were absent from a BNIB package, but that's not the case here. 1 minute ago, TheHiddenPanda said: GA-Z170MX-Gaming-5-rev-10 https://www.ebay.com/itm/392024651783 Main Rig: CPU: AMD Ryzen 7 5800X | RAM: 32GB (2x16GB) KLEVV CRAS XR RGB DDR4-3600 | Motherboard: Gigabyte B550I AORUS PRO AX | Storage: 512GB SKHynix PC401, 1TB Samsung 970 EVO Plus, 2x Micron 1100 256GB SATA SSDs | GPU: EVGA RTX 3080 FTW3 Ultra 10GB | Cooling: ThermalTake Floe 280mm w/ be quiet! Posted May 2, 2018 Warranties almost always only apply to the original buyer and they likely don't have IO sheild lying around for old product honestly it isn't necessary anyway so I'm not sure why you think it is or is this simply a cosmetic thing https://linustechtips.com/main/topic/631048-psu-tier-list-updated/ Tier Breakdown (My understanding)--1 Godly, 2 Great, 3 Good, 4 Average, 5 Meh, 6 Bad, 7 Awful
 Posted May 2, 2018 Worst case scenario, just spend 5 or 10 bucks on ebay to get one. When I get motherboards for my budget builds and they dont have I/O shields, I just order them. Also if the previous owner didn't have the shield, I would've haggled him down for the cost of replacing one as well.
 Posted May 2, 2018 If it wasn't in original box, this would be different. But they aren't really responsible at this point. Its not hardware issue and if they don't have any laying around. It is 3 gens old board at this point anyway. 17 hours ago, AresKrieger said: Warranties almost always only apply to the original buyer ... I think that depends highly on company/area. In here its the one who has part with matching proof of purchase who has rights to warranty. Its not locked to person, not by default. If one would register product, things would ofc be different as then you have connected product number to email account (etc.). Selling something with warranty (living in country/EU where 1 year warranty is minimum, 2 years common for tech and most products having 3-5 year warranty) gives nice boost to value. ^^^^ That's my post ^^^^ <-- This is me --- That's your scrollbar --> vvvv Who's there? vvvv
