As the title suggests, is there anyway to limit the performance of a GPU. The reason i would like to do this is mainly heat. The GPU in question is a 960m, inside of an XPS 15. When i'm gaming, the GPU hits a peak of 91C. While this is still acceptable and technically will be okay for the GPU, its still very nerve racking having the GPU hit that temp. When i unplug the battery, with Nvidia battery boost enabled, the temps drop to a more comfortable 75C. Sure i lose around 5 FPS but i think this is a worthy trade off. However, this only happens when on battery, and i always game at my desk. I was wondering if there was a way to mimic the functionality of battery boost when i'm not running off battery. And before you comment saying "You will lose FPS not worth it", I know this and am willing to make the trade off for lower thermals.

Undervolt it or just drop the power target by 50%

Laptops with dedicated GPUs are never going to have the best battery life in any event.

I edit my posts a lot, Twitter is @LordStreetguru just don't ask PC questions there mostly...

Spoiler

What is your budget/country for your new PC?

what monitor resolution/refresh rate?

What games or other software do you need to run?
