Turning Russian forum spammers into a Monero farm

So I started a forum and it never really caught on but it gets huge amounts of spam from Russian bots (advertising various sketchy online services). I won't link it because it contains some NSFW stuff. Anyways, I am currently using coinhive to monetize the spam. Has anyone thought of setting up a forum purely as spam bait and doing the same thing? I don't think conventional advertising would work for this as the traffic would be too low quality (all traffic from Russia, all from potentially detectable bots, all views and no clicks). I'm currently running the forum on a server that I use for other purposes.

Interesting results but the hash rate is pretty low. I guess JS miners aren't very efficient for low traffic sites.

Well an extra 25H/s (on top of my legitimate traffic to other parts of the site which you see in the form of spikes) running 24/7 is always welcome. It probably doubles what I would make on legit traffic alone and pays for a chunk of my cheap server.

Very interesting update: they dropped off for a few days and then for the last few days have been mining at 70-80 H/s 24 hours a day. Hopefully this keeps up.

So about $2 a month from bots? Thats like $24 a year.

 

My testing servers cost $15 a year  and usually do nothing. Maybe something like this would make them "free".

I have thought about using them to mine while not in use to recover some cost, but have been too lazy since my lunches usually cost more.
