Founder's edition v/s Others

lolcocks

So there soon might come a day when I will have to purchase a new graphic card.

I have always wondered, are founder's edition cards better than the other one's?

What about the cooling factor? Is it better in the founder's edition one or the others that come with multiple fans?

And why are PNY and EVGA's card so cheap as compared to others?

Just a noob, looking for some information.

Thank you.

All founders cards are near identical, some clock theirs a little higher

Founders cards run hotter and louder than open designs

Founders cards are louder and hotter than any after market cooler out there, spare maybe some cheap blower style coolers they put on the lower end sku cards. You should really never get a founders card unless you will be water cooling imo.

Price is a BIG factor right now, Founders editions are on sale at MSRP now. Cooling on the other hand is also a big factor, my gigabyte 1080's fans don't even haft to spin when just in windows so its really quiet even when gaming.

Founders editions cards are not definitively better, in fact some other card's come factory OC.

as for PNY and EVGA: supply and demand.

Founders edition cards have worse cooling than the board partner designs. They run hotter and louder due to the blower style cooling (although blower style cards are better for very small form factor PCs). They are also clocked lower as the partner designs are factory overclocked. Founders edition cards are generally slightly better binned however allowing higher overclocks if the cooling is replaced. They are also more compatible with water blocks. It doesn't seem like you're into overclocking and water cooling that much so probably you'll never buy one.

The GPU market is being heavily influenced by large demand from cryptocurrency mining (bitcoin, ethereum etc). There is a shortage of them, so the prices are all out of whack. the MSRPs of the cards are all relatively close together but we're in a high demand low supply phase making the prices sky high in some cases.

Got rid of my strix, too loud and hot. Put an fe cooler on my evga's as I sold one cooler and I wanted them to match. Temps and sound is the same, even with a pair in sli which is what makes the blower better, along with looks.

Prices are all close to the same, waiting 2 years to one adds to the pricing issue.

Alright, thank you everyone for your replies.

I hope this will definitely help me in my future journey of purchasing a graphic card.

I hope they are cheaper in the future and crypto graphic cards are kept separate from gaming ones.
