[FIXED] .NET Framework WON'T INSTALL!

I was playing osu for the past few days and I came across a .NET Framework installation prompt when I opened the program up. I tried to skip it but it refused to launch so, I tried installing it but I came across an error code 0x800F0922. I also tried enabling it in the control panel but it just gave me the same error. Help!

Error Code 0x800F0922 in Windows 10 update refers to an error with downloading problem with the newest update of Windows 10. It also means that low System Reserved partition space is left for loading new system or the system fails to connect to Windows Update server.

How much space do you have on your drives and what's your connection looking like? Using any VPNs or any kind of DNS filtering?

I have no VPNs or DNS filters. My drives have 823 MB free on them right now.

823MB? That's your problem G. Clear up some space then try to update.

What total capacity does your disk have? Did you mean 823GB or 823MB (as stated)?

823MB is barely enough for web browsing nowadays with caching etc.

You'll want at LEAST 4GB free for normal package installs. You'll want 12+ for a windows feature upgrade, like the one that will be delivered in the next few weeks.

It is 82 3MB. My drive is a 128 GB USB. I only made a 32 GB virtual drive. What do I do?

That's really, really tight. You might not even be able to install it with such a low amount of free space. Even if you were to offline install the framework with an off-partition scratch area, it still might need more than 800MB to work with.

Do you have any software you can uninstall from that partition temporarily? Do you have any way of extending the partition?

That Virtual drive cannot be expanded. I tried in cmd and it failed.I looked at Microsoft's website and it said it only needs 500 MB.

You should always have 10-15% of your hard drive as free space minimum in order for Windows to run properly, with a minimum of about 15GB for swap and working space for updates. You'll want to free up some space, or get a larger boot drive.

Desktop: KiRaShi-Intel-2022 (i5-12600K, 5060 Ti) Mobile: Moto Razr 50 Ultra (Razr+ 2024) | 30GB CAN+US+MEX $30/month
Laptop: Lenovo Yoga 7i (16") 82UF0015US (i7-12700H, 16GB/2TB RAM/SSD, A370M GPU) Tablet: Lenovo Tab Plus (256GB)
Camera: Canon M6 Mark II | Canon Rebel T1i (500D) | Canon SX280 Music: Spotify Premium (CIRCA '08)

There is no way there can be 15GB. Windows take 20GB so there can only be 12GB left.

I wouldn't trust those requirements since they aren't even the minimum required for those supported operating systems to run. They haven't been updated in a VERY long time.

Windows 10 installs these as packages, with links into the Windows Side-By-Side configuration store (WinSxS) to easily remove it if needed. That, plus the scratch space needed to temporarily store replaced files, and I wouldn't expect installation of the .net 3.5 (plus .net3 and .net 2.5) to require less than 2GB at an absolute minimum. 4GB would be safer.

Remove some programs, run disk cleanup, and get rid of unneeded downloads etc. You may be able to get the installer to work.

This is painful. I have 1.45 GB right now.

I assume you're running a Windows To Go installation from USB (based on what you've already said), and had a 128GB USB storage device to run it from. I'm curious why you chose to partition it so that Windows only had 32GB of space when your device had so much more?

Windows 10 only requires 20GB of space, but that assumes you install from scratch and doesn't account for space needed to maintain the OS with patches. If you're running Windows-To-Go, the idea is that you get provisioned an image that has your "workspace", and that whole image is periodically updated by an administrator (offline) to ensure it stays within the space constraints of the medium. It isn't meant for 24/7 use by standard users.

Long story, I dropped my laptop (It has 500 GB) and it bluescreened. So Installed windows on a USB to recover my files because installing windows into that drive will wipe its data. I was in a hurry because I had things to do so I only made a 32 GB virtual drive. I used WinToUSB to install windows. It installs windows with an ISO file. It is not Windows To Go.

Yes, that means it's made a Windows To Go workspace.

Unfortunately there isn't a lot I can say to help other than what I've already said, and that if you want to continue with your current setup (using a Windows To Go setup as a regular Windows machine) you're going to SERIOUSLY want to re-create your usb disk with a Windows partition bigger than 32GB.

Okay, thank you!
