I have an old HP Compaq Desktop that I want to get running again but it doesn't have an OS on Its drive (didn't notice the special mounting pegs and wiped it to throw in my current PC. didn't fit.) I cannot get Ubuntu to boot, some disk error or something. how do I get Ubuntu burnt to and booting from a flash drive? (WITHOUT USING COMMAND PROMPT)

heck.

You can use Etcher, or UNetbootin.

  • 2 weeks later...

UNetbootin's a piece of crap. Avoid it. Use Etcher or Rufus to write the ISO/BIN image.

Etcher is a appimage package.. I have no idea why Windows would not let it run (maybe it knows.. lol) but you can tell Defender where to stick it. the proper download page is https://etcher.io/

Rufus is a native windows app.. not a port so it should work well as well. use dd mode.
