1.) What FREE program do you guys recommend for monitoring system temperatures? Is there software that can measure the temps of all the system components?

2.) Best FREE HDD/SSD performance checking program for read/write? I often see people use CrystalDiskMark?

3.) Has anyone ever had CCleaner screw up their registry via "Fix selected issues" ?

4.) Something I've always wondered about but never bothered looking into and always ignored... When installing a new program: "It is strongly recommended that you exit all Windows programs before running this setup program."
Does anyone ever adhere to this warning message? Should you?

5.) Do you guys know of any program that will display the total storage/current available storage of each connected drive (internal/external) on the Windows taskbar? I work with a lot of drives and it would be nice if I could have a read-out visible at all times without me having to click on a pinned "This PC" taskbar link to view the storage count and interact with the drives.

6.) Is there a way to pin/set the Recycling Bin to the taskbar? Often my monitor is covered with documents and web pages galore. I'm sure there's probably a more convenient way for me to access/empty the  Recycling Bin aside from unsnapping windows to move them or minimizing them to reach the desktop Recycling Bin.

Thanks

#1 HWinfo

#2 Yes, CDM is the go-to usually.

#3 I dont use that program

#4 Nope.  Its there so that if some shared library is updated during install there are not any "File Open" errors, but it usually asks if this happens and allows you to close the offending app.

#5 Not 100% sure, HWinfo offers support for things like this, but not sure if it will do what you want.

#6 You can pin the recycle bin to the start menu in Windows 10.

Yeah, I know about being able to pin the Recycling Bin to the Start Menu, but I was looking for a better option than that because then I have to select the Start Menu.
And oddly enough, when I select the Recycle Bin and hit "Pin to Start" for some reason It's not actually pinned to my Start Menu.

Its goes in the section with the tiles, if you have any start menu mods it may not show up.

Yeah, I know. Looked for it there. I do use CCleaner so maybe that's why it doesn't show up there. Otherwise, dunno.

I have OpenHardwareMonitor and MSI Afterburner for that purpose. The HWiNFO mentioned is also one, the most feature-rich one.

CrystalDiskMark or Atto.

Nope. Only software which have caused me some issues are Spybot S&D back in 2006 and IOBit Uninstaller.

It is to avoid any conflicts when making changes to registry or libraries. Or with some when they require AV or browser to be shutdown. Usually you can skip that. Its just disclaimer so that if something happens, company who made installer can't be blamed if it was another software which caused the issue.

Probably nothing to task bar. Not like that. There are software like WinDirSat and SpaceSniffer which you could have alternatively open vs explorer or some system monitor. But you could get something in notification area. From quick look I can find one older software which can do detailed info in tray (https://dennisbabkin.com/ctm/) and my own go-to system monitor OpenHardwareMonitor having option to add space usage on tray.

Besides pinning it to start, you can add it to quick menu in Win10. Meaning that if you have icon for explorer pinned, you can open recycle bin with right click on that icon.

I assume that when you're installing something that could cause a conflict with another program Windows will tell you to close down that specific program to avoid an issue.

Have you ever encountered an issue via installing multiple programs at the same time?

Most of the times you can. But that warning is in place for legal reasons mainly.

Nope. I install 2-6 drivers and software at the same time. Never had issues. Sometimes they note that some specific software needs to be closed or another installer is conflicting.
