I have a Compaq Presario QC5600 computer although it has a problem where the outputted signal is flashing. I would like to add a dedicated Graphics card in that system although I am not sure if everything that I would like to add is going to work together. I have a VGA only monitor although the graphics card which I am planning to install is a DMS59 card which does not have a VGA output so I will need a DMS59 to VGA converter. The converter which I am looking into buying takes in one DMS59 output and converts it to two VGA outputs. I only am going to use one of them and have nothing plugged into the other VGA output, will that work? The GPU which I am planning to install in this computer is a AMD Radeon HD 3450 GPU. I will provide a link to the converter within this post.

converter which I am planning to buy and use:   https://www.ebay.com/itm/DMS-59Pin-To-Dual-VGA-Cable-Adapter-DVI-Splitter-for-HDTV-Projector-Practical/183186087537?hash=item2aa6bdde71:g:GbAAAOSwkcBa2FCT

Why such an old card?

Why not a GT 710 or even GT730 which is about 5x the performance and about the same cost.

I have this graphics already lying around and will not be doing anything graphic intensive on that system.

Yeah, it should work no problem. The splitter just sends the same video signal to both VGA outputs, so it's only use is to mirror your display onto something else - like as the listing suggests, would normally be something like a VGA projector in a business tpye environment.

Ah, well then I don't see why your original proposed solution wouldn't work with a splitter like that with only one monitor being used. It shouldn't cause any issues that I know of.
