Your storage isn't going to be the limiting factor when downloading. Even if you had Gigabit internet, your HDD would still be faster than your download speed.

This is really a network question. What speeds do you pay for with your ISP and what are the results you get with Speedtest.net?

I don't think your download speed is limited by your storage. A faster drive doesn't mean faster internet.

The speeds you're getting are a little slower than your theoretical maximum, but not by much. What speed do you get from Speedtest.net? Most of the time you won't get exactly what you pay for, due to "up to" quotes.

EDIT: 8MB/s = 64Mb/s

Yeah, then there's nothing wrong, you're just mixing up some units.

Steam and Origin both show downloads in Megabytes per second, while your ISP, Speedtest and most quoted network speeds are in Megabits per second. There are 8 bits in a byte, so you need to multiply the speed you see on Steam or Origin (or really any file download as most are in MBps) by 8 to get the speed in Megabits per second.

8 Megabytes *8 = 64 Megabits. (well, 8 * 8 = 64, but you get what I mean)
