Hey again

Thanks to @Princess Cadence I have found the perfect cpu for my nephew and we've picked all the other parts together . This pc will be used for mostly cpu taxing games like factorio and rimworld and maybe some AAA games , I have chosen intel beacause of 2 reasons

1.No need for overclocking and great IPC

2.Igpu as a redundancy in case linux encounters any issues with his 1060.

The board may not be the best value but we'll it's his build and I'd rather he had a kickass rgb board rather than a value one and be dissatisfied with it.

Here is my build

https://pcpartpicker.com/list/pgXcq4

Is it good?

the macho is quite overkill for a locked i5, use the stock cooler. get an aidos black for $10 if it ends up not being enough. no reason to get such an expensive board unless you absolutely need the extra features, just cget a cheap H310/B360 board.

CPU: AMD Ryzen 5 5600X Heatsink: Gelid Phantom Black GPU: Palit RTX 3060 Ti Dual RAM: Corsair DDR4 2x8GB 3000Mhz mobo: Asus X570-P case: Fractal Design Define C PSU: Superflower Leadex Gold 650W

This ^

I would go with the Hyper 212X which is what I got for my i7 8700, it is drop dead silent and great value ^^

Indeed for a locked processor we don't need to go all in with the motherboard, I would personally advise this one instead:

https://www.asus.com/Motherboards/ROG-STRIX-B360-G-GAMING/

As it is cheaper but still looks awesome, and being micro-ATX you could use this case instead:

http://www.coolermaster.com/case/mini-tower/mastercase-pro-3/

This way you're getting a more compact feeling build still retaining awesome aesthetics, great air flows and all for a bit cheaper.

Also since this is a locked motherboard (only z370 is unlocked) you can not overclock the memory meaning any thing with a higher frequency than 2666mhz is rather pointless, you could save some money looking for a 2400/2666 kit instead.

The fastest speed ram you can run on that is 2666MHz. So depending on price then go with a lower speed kit. The 3200MHz will work though, but at 2666MHz.

Maybe save a bit on the SSD. A Team Group L5 would do fine for a 1st pc, or a Crucial MX500. No real need to get it in M.2 format either unless it is cheaper. Just go with a regular SATA version.

As mentioned above, the cooler is a bit of a mismatch. A cheap $20 would be fine. Maybe something like a Cryorig M9i.

don't really like the 212s TBH, gets matched in performance by a cooler less than half it's price.

My main complain would be the mounting mechanism, it certainly isn't the best ever but over all it will outperform the stock cooling by a mile and the last X revision fan really is as quiet as it could get...

Though other options like the Gammax 300 and so on certainly are very viable, any thing but stock cooler if any thing... damn I still have nightmares from its noise back in my i7 6700 days with one.

I would suggest a slightly different configuration. It is ~US$45 above the OP system. It could be brought under the OP build by switching the 1TB ssd for a 500GB ssd.

I'm suggesting a higher clocked cpu. Still a 65W TDP part so it doesn't need aggressive cooling.

One could use the stock cooler. I've opted for the very decent Cryorig H7 which will do a better, read quieter job.

Since the cpu is locked, I swapped out the DDR4-3200 memory for DDR4-2666. It's a little less expensive and has Aura Sync compatible RGB lighting.

The most significant change was to swap out the small ssd and large hdd in favor of a 1TB ssd. Greatly simplifies the storage layout and offers excellent storage performance for all programs.

No need for a 550W 80+ Gold cpu. The CX450M is a very good 80+ Bronze. There is more than enough capacity to handle upgrades.

80+ ratings certify electrical efficiency. Not quality.

oh yeah the mounts suck big time, my TPC812 uses the same mounting and it won't stop twisting all the time xD

Sorry just one more question guys , I saw Linus review the Hades Canyon and that thing is bananas like it blew my mind , I've been using an Xbone for a while and that thing is like awesome . It will be 100 USD over budget though . I know it's worse value and not upgradable but would it run games at 1080p60 for the next 2 years?

it should be fine for that, but keep in mind that you get zero upgradibility with the NUC.

I know man but dear it's amazing , like the size the IO , when I showed this to my nephew he really likes it so maybe?Like I'd likely pay a price premium due to the tech inside but it's awesome . Like  my mind is blown .

unless being tiny is a necessity, I'd just skip it for a regular rig.
