Upgrading Pre-Built

I recently bought a fair priced pre-built MSI gaming desktop with good hardware, just not top-notch.

I would like to know if there is a possibility for me to upgrade in the future,

If so, how much can I upgrade and where should I start and why?

Also, any upgrade tips?

My specs are:

CPU: Intel i5-7400 @ 3GHz (3.5GHz)
RAM: 8GB DDR4-SDRAM (Max RAM: 32GB)
GPU: Nvidia GeForce GTX 1050 Ti
Memory: 1TB HDD (adding 500GB SSD soon)

Motherboard: Micro-Star International Co. Ltd. MS-B9071

PSU: 350W

I am mainly using this computer for high-end gaming (don't mind playing low/med specs), and just casual surfing/school work.

Games I usually play: BF4, BF1, Titanfall 2, The Witcher 3 etc..

Please tell me if I missed out any other useful info.

Well, the PSU is tiny and shit, it uses SDram for some reason so the motherboard is probably tiny and proprietary.

Not sure how much you can do. Can you link the specific model?

Hey!

Well, for the start I would add ssd. It should boost the speed of the system quite much.

I do not trust that psu, would probably get a new one for the sake of components.

Then consider getting another 8gb stick of ram or better graphics card.

What do you mean by the PSU using SDram?

The motherboard could be on the small side seeing as the desktop itself is very small and compact.

This link is where I got the dekstop: https://www.bol.com/nl/p/msi-nightblade-mi3-7rb-006eu-gaming-desktop/9200000073310494/

It is a dutch website, the model is MSI Nightblade Mi3 7RB-006EU if that helps out.

What will getting a bigger PSU do for me?

Never upgraded any PC before

Could you explain to me why the 8GB of RAM extra?

No, the motherboard uses SDram, the PSU is just shit. And the PSU is not standard ATX so you'll have trouble finding a good replacement unit. The reason you would need a new psu is that 350w is just not enough to get a GTX1070 going for example.

Sound like a pain haha,

Could you give me any tips or help in finding a suitable and decent replacement for my PSU?

Well, the system takes ~2gb ... you have 6gb left. You open chrome with few tabs and it takes ~3gb .. now you have 3gb. And that is not quite enough for some games.

SDRAM:  https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/DDR4_SDRAM

You might be confusing it with the old SDRAM from before pre-DDR1 I think.

@Unistash: You'd be limited to a 4C/4T i7 processor with the mobo you have in terms of a CPU upgrade.

Also is that 8GB of RAM 2 sticks of RAM or just 1 stick?

An SSD would be the first thing I spend on this setup, IMHO.  Then followed by RAM.  If you want eye candy in your games, probably a PSU and GPU upgrade should be considered.

CPU: Sempron 2500+ / P4 2.8E / P4 2.6C / A64 x2 4000+ / E6420 / E8500 / i5-3470 / i7-3770
GPU: TNT2 M64 / Radeon 9000 / MX 440-SE / 7300GT / Radeon 4670 / GTS 250 / Radeon 7950 / 660 Ti
