Unable to remove tiles

Hello,

 

I am unable to remove tiles after updating my Windows. I remove them, the background canvas becomes clear then when  I shrink it and re-open it, the canvas is present with no tiles.. I go ahead to add an app to it and then it closes automatically then when I open it again, it has tiles which I originally removed.. also, after every update, the tiles get reset.. What can I do? Any registry hacks to disable tiles?
