So I recently upgraded my i3-3240 to an i7-3770 (non-k), I couldn't afford another cooler just yet, but I figured, and so did many of my other friends a stock cooler will do just fine.

Well I guess we were wrong because it idles at around 55C, and can and has gone up to 95C, and crashed my computer due to heating (most likely).

I'm wondering if this is due to stock cooler, or something happened and is messing up.

Please be unbias with suggestions, I don't have much money. Trying to sell a GTX 750 so I can get a new cooler, but still please be unbiased.

P.S. I have the CPU fan speed on full in my bios.

Yes, many times (when I first put in the new CPU, and booted it was fine, but when I opened MSI (only for temps and custom fan curve for my GPU, and then i opened a game like siege, the temps shoot up to 95C).. also siege is the game that actually crashed me with tempetures.

Did you use the stock cooler of the i3 or did the i7 come with one? The stock cooler of the i3 is weaker than the i7's since the i3 is rated for 55W TDP while the i7 is 95W TDP or something about there.

*facepalm* could explain it.. It didn't come with one, and people have told me it should be fine with the cooler I have, if you don't mind I'll link the cooler I have in mind to buy with the money I get from my sale.

That's perfectly adequate and should handle a modest overclock too.

Considering its non-k I don't think im going to be doing much overcloking, however, I do know it IS possible to overclock it to ATLEAST, 4.2ghz, but I'm not sure how.. and I'll wait until I get that cooler xD
